Jury Duty’s Cheap Delights

Being selected to serve on my first jury—and as the foreman, no less!–gave me the opportunity—since the court house is *right-there*–to try a couple of the really cheap dumpling places in Chinatown. You know, the kind of places that advertise 5-dumplings-for-a-dollar, but look so small and downright dingy that you are intrigued and repelled at the same time.

Ok, I admit, my muffin-picture-taking-ablilty needs some *serious* work…but these muffins were yummy!

Months ago–could it be years?–I had ripped out the “Muffins 101” article from Martha Stewart Living. Sure, I know how to make a muffin…but sometimes it’s nice to have a quick go-to guide for measurements and the like. But the part that I was *really* interested in was her recipe for Streusel Topping.

Aren’t they cute? They look like little daisy-flower-faces, don’t they?

I’m jumping right back into blogging (yay, finally!) by being a part of February’s “Waiter, there’s something in my….” hosted by Cooksister, The Passionate Cook, and SpittoonExtra. This month’s “something” was pie. Mmmmm, P-I-E! According to the rules put forth, it could be savory, it could be sweet…but it had to be covered, the delicious contents to remain a mystery until cut, bit or broken into.
