When the weather turns hot and sticky (like it was in NYC this week—phew!)…ice cream and popsicles and all manner of cool and frozen treats are the first order of the day.  But sometimes…just sometimes…rich and decadent is what you’re craving.  Despite those 100 degrees staring you in the face, making it hard to breathe on the subway and, let’s face it, dripping down the back of your legs.  (Ewww!) *smile*  But still, the craving hits and you want what you want….and then it’s time to make Lemon Mascarpone Blondies!

The Mermaid Inn Uptown

So many people love this restaurant–and I can see why.  It’s the perfect cross between cool Manhattan restaurant and rustic clam shack.  The dark wood looks pleasantly distressed, as if it could be salt-worn.  The darkly framed pictures are all studies in antique white, cream and tan—there is even photo of Camelot’s (and Cape Cod’s) First Couple, John and Jackie–one of the old fashioned ones that looks painted over to bring out the blue…

Mini Farfalle with Pesto, Summer Vegetables and Shrimp

This is one of those dishes that’s perfect for this sticky weather we’re having, as it is not a heavy pasta dish and is great served hot, cold or room temperature.   And if you’re like me, you make enough so that you can eat it hot the first meal and then just grab it out of the fridge for subsequent meals…or snacks! *smile*
