As you may have noticed, my last few posts have not contained pictures. This will continue for a while longer as my camera has gone on vacation–without me! Yes, Carolyn took it to Asia, so until she returns, we’ll just have to imagine how wonderful everything looks. *smile* Hmmm…I think I’ll just have to make everything all over again once I’m re-camera-ed so that I can update all the posts— otherwise TF will never forgive me!

Now to the delicious Strawberry Bread!

First of all, I have an apology to make–there is some wonderful food blogger out there who led me to this recipe, but I forgot to write down who it was, I’m so sorry! *And* they had a wonderful photo of this bread, to boot, so I doubly wish that I could give them credit and link to their site–not only to thank them, but so that you could see the picture of this beautiful bread. They in turn had found it at Sweetnicks–a wonderfully pink food blog! You can find the recipe here.

I followed the recipe exactly, except that I sliced my strawberries instead of chopping them (as inspired by that mystery blogger) and it turned out perfectly. The dough is indeed thick, and a rather unusual texture—but it provides a wonderful backdrop to the strawberries.

My most favorite part was the robust strawberry aroma when baking. It wasn’t the “sweet-strawberry” smell you get when say, cooking a pie or preserves, but more of a “fresh-strawberry” scent. The smell of strawberries that have been warmed by the sun. And considering I was using some rather poor-looking hot-house October-strawberries, that was no small feat, indeed!
